Well,  my last post was 5 years ago. My journey ended because I quit. Next month,  I will be 29 years old, and I know it is now or never.  I started a new job last year in a corporate environment and I was pleased to find that one of the benefits was a free Weight Watchers membership as long as you lose 10 pounds every 3 months or until you hit goal. If/When you hit goal, WW gives you free membership.

My first 3 months went very well. I lost 11 pounds and felt good.  This session however has been a struggle. After the holidays, I am finding that I am stuggling to slip back into it.  I know my struggle isn't new and so many of us are going through it, but I'm hoping this blog will help me find my motivation.

One thing I am strongly battling is a soda addiction.  I do not use the term addiction lightly. I have tried to quit many times. I have used Diet sodas as a patch of sorts, but it never sticks. Sodas are my one vice but I have to leave it if I'm going to be successful on my journey to health.  I told my Weight Watchers group at the beginning of the year that my goal for the end of the year was to be a size 12.  I am currently a size 16.  If I am going to acheive my goal, I am going to need to get a move on.

I have a meeting with a Nutritionist next week and I'm hoping some expertise will help me on my path. I purchased a Fitbit and I really love it. It helps me keep up with how active I am, but nutrition is definitely something I could use some help with. Fast and convienent is usually my mantra with food, though that is not good in terms of health.

I've tried meal planning, but I'm a very social creature and if someone wants to go out, I tend to abandon the plan in order to spend time with people.

I do plan on updating this blog more often, and hopefully it can help someone like me.

Follow Through

Well, my follow through is severely lacking. My weight loss journey has slowed down but certainly not ended. I now feel that I'm losing more inches than weight because I know my weight hasn't dropped yet i've lost a size and received many more compliments. I just wanted to give a quick update so I don't feel like such a slacker blogger. Have a great day!

Not eating enough

So I've hit a bit of a plateau and decided to take Weight Watchers up on their free trial offer. I posted on the board that I felt 32 points was too much because it'd be more calories than I eat now. I was quickly told that obviously what I'm doing is no longer working, probably because I'm not eating enough for my body to keep going. I find this hard to believe because I don't feel that I'm not eating. I even made myself start snacking. I think I need to eat more at breakfast and less at dinner. This is my plan for the next week. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Why am I so impatient?

I've started this blog as a way to express myself. I've always thought of myself as a writer, even though my follow through on most everything blows. I decided at the beginning of January 2010 that everything needed to change. I'm a college graduate who waits tables for a living, so I decided to go back to grad school. Only, all the colleges I applied to rejected me. So, I've put the career and school thing on hold for a while and decided to get myself healthy. I started my weight journey at 252 pounds. I'm now 229. I know I should be overjoyed at a 23 pound weight loss in 10 weeks but somehow I'm disappointed. I expect so much out of myself. I want to be 160 overnight with a great job or a phd, but it's not happening and somehow I need to accept it and keep working. I suppose I'm just an overachiever who is struggling with not achieving as much as I'd like. Surely, someone out there must feel the way I do. Why can't I have what I want?
